Life-Centered Education

Christian Life Ministries offers a number of educational activities and resources to help members of greater Twin Cities areaWELS/ELS churches and schools grow in faith and develop a Christ-centered perspective for daily living.

Teens for Life – Teens for Life is a student service organization, based at area Lutheran high schools, whose goal is to foster respect among teens for the sanctity of life, from conception to the end of life. Usually meeting twice monthly, these groups do presentations at schools and in the community, participate in life-related events and put their faith into action in service projects such as collecting baby clothes for New Day Pregnancy Care Center and volunteering at a women’s shelter. The groups’mission is based on Proverbs 3:8: “Speak up for those who cannot speak for themselves, for the rights of all who are destitute.”

Youth Retreats and Mission Trips – Christian Life Ministries sponsors annual spiritual retreats for youth and youth leaders from area WELS/ELS congregations, featuring speakers on a wide range of teen-related life topics such as “Texting, Media & Teens” and “Sports and the Christian Life.” In-depth discussion, personal counseling and Christian fellowship are also an important part of these faith-building events.Watch the Events section of this website for details on upcoming retreats!

The organization also supports the youth of area congregations by providing life-related devotions, Bible studies and video materials for students participating in summer WELS/ELS mission trips within the United States and to Mexico. These materials inspire teens to make God-pleasing life decisions and assist them in sharing their Christian faith.

Life Resources – An important part of Christian Life Ministries’mission is to offer life-related educational resources to WELS/ELS churches and schools. These include:

~ Life Sundays – Rev. A. Lemke, our director of education, works with individual WELS/ELS congregations to plan and conduct Life Sunday events – a coordinated program of worship, Bible studies and Sunday school instruction all focused on the basic principles of God’s teaching regarding the sanctity of life. Life Sunday materials are also made available for local pastors and teachers to use on their own in working with their people.

~ Support for Congregations – Christian Life Ministries provides consultation to pastors, other church leaders and teachers needing help in any doctrinal or practical matters related to life issues. Our director of education, Rev. A. Lemke, and the New Day Pregnancy Care Center staff are available to speak on life-related topics at area churches or to work with church members who may be dealing with an unplanned pregnancy or other spiritual and personal issues.

~ Bible Studies – There seems to be a great deal of uncertainty these days about life matters, due to their complexity and the often confused messages found in popular media. Christian Life Ministries has Bible studies and presenters available to help in educating WELS/ELS congregations on life questions from a biblical perspective. Available studies include Christian bioethics and end-of-life issues, among others.
